Cumulative Precipitation for the Year
Over the course of a year Edmonton averages about 425mm of combined precipitation.
Here we're looking at rain and the mm-equivalent of snow. If you're just interested in snow, that is covered under the
tab on snow instead.
Yearly Precipitation Totals
The 425mm average has been fairly consistent over the last century, although there is quite a bit of variation by year.
Although since about 2000 our precipitation has actually been averaging closer to 400mm per year. That is down about 15% from the ~475mm average of the 1970s through 1990s.
Monthly Precipitation
Edmonton has a fairly short monsoon season, with July usually having more mm of precipitation than the entire winter.
